HEALTH
Monckton Chambers acts in a range of areas of health law. Members have acted for claimants and defendants in judicial review challenges to the exercise of powers both within the NHS, and as between the NHS and other bodies such as social services.
Changes in the provision of health services have led to an increasingly wide range of issues, including competition and public law issues, in respect of which members have been instructed. The priority given to health by the Office of Fair Trading, on pricing issues in particular, has led to appeals to the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the involvement of members for a number of parties.
In procurement law, members frequently advise both the public sector and private undertakings in the full range of procurement issues from private finance initiatives (PFIs) to supplies.
